Walk along the teachings and forests that are ideal for watching birds, or go canyoning through rocky gorges.

Kitulgale’s climate is damp all year round, making it an ideal place for white water rafting. The exciting adventure on the Whitewater River on the Kelani River is equally enjoyable for beginners and professionals. From 11 to 75 years of age, a professional and experienced guide will help you have a safe and enjoyable day on the river! Before starting the two-hour course, you will receive instructions on paddling skills and river structure procedures. During the wilderness adventure, swim through the torrents of the second and third graders and thrilling torrents. In some cases Class 4 and 4+ torrents can occur.

Those who prefer to enjoy the river and its magnificent scenery without the large pedestrian walk and view can embark on rafting in the lower part of the competition. More convenient for children over six years and family.
The route ends near Kitulgala, where food and snacks are available. For groups, lunch can be arranged on the riverbank.

Day 3

Belihuloya is perfectly in harmony with nature and provides a beautiful setting for all kinds of adventures, from climbing to canoeing and hiking. Here you can enjoy picturesque waterfalls, historical monuments and nature trails.

In the afternoon, you can enjoy a refreshing river in natural rock. This unique location is in two metropolitan areas, Belihuloya and Galagama Oya. This clear waters began at Maha Eliya (Horton Plains) at 2,200 meters above sea level.

Day 4

• Nature trail to the Kinchigune village.

Kinchigune is an ancient village that flows almost completely into the waters of the Samanalawewa Reservoir built in the 1980s. The residents of this village have been dealing with agriculture and the steel industry from the beginning. The nature trail starts at the River Garden Resort and runs along Belihuloya Forest through rice fields, across rivers and around local village houses with their extensive vegetable plantations. Here you have the ideal opportunity to learn about local farming systems and the simple way of life in the countryside. On the way you will witness different species of birds and butterflies as well as lovely little waterfalls. The end of the Belihuloya River meeting the Samanalawewa Reservoir ends.

Surrounded by a rugged mountain landscape, still tranquil waters of Samanalawewa Dam offer an idyllic place for canoeing. The name of the dam is derived from the Sinhalese word “Samanala”, which means “butterfly” and refers to the huge number of butterflies in the area as well as the shape of the tank. Whether you’re paddling for a few hours, venturing out to the mouth of the Belihuloya River, or exploring the edge of the reservoir for a full day, you’re sure to experience an unforgettable experience. An experienced guide will provide you with the right technology, safety instructions and a modern life jacket.

Day 5

• Transfer to Rathnapura.

Your canoe trip starts at Saman Dewalaya, the jewelery store of Ratnapura, and is within an easy distance of 16 km. After passing through the densely populated urban areas, you will be in a peaceful and tranquil countryside in the valley. Sometimes you will see small riverside houses surrounded by dense vegetation and palm trees. Only the sound of birds and the sound of paddles can be heard in calm water.

Day 6

• Canoëing to Anguruwatota.

Today, the adventure canoe begins to grow and requires some prior knowledge of canoeing. In this section, the river flows faster and creates waves and whirlpools, making your canoe fluctuating and restless.

Day 7

• Morning Breakfast at the hotel.

• Canoëing to Kalutara.

• Arrival in Kalutara.

Today’s journey begins with a canoe trip through the very quiet sea at Thebuwana. Here, forests and rubber farms turn into coconut farms, and you can find a few monkeys swinging on coconut branches. Then the shores will become more and more crowded with fishermen coming ashore in long ferries and miners sank. This last stretch of 20 km will take you across a calm and meandering river that flows very slowly into the ocean to Kalutara.

The end of the trip is the small town of Kalutara, a sparkling Indian Ocean. Upon arrival, you will pass the temple’s majestic Dagoba and railway and road bridges across the river.
